Charleston SC Watercolor Painting | Historic City Market Art Print

Market in historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina. The warm architecture, colorful evening light and distinctive character of Charleston make the city one of my favorite subjects for architectural watercolor painting.

Charleston is ridiculously easy to photograph. Between the historic architecture, church steeples, cobblestone streets, colorful houses and constantly changing coastal light, I usually return home with considerably more photographs than I could ever paint.

For this watercolor, I was particularly interested in the warm evening light across the City Market architecture. I used the photograph as a starting point while allowing watercolor's transparent color and natural variations to give the scene a more expressive atmosphere.

Printed on premium photographic paper and hand signed by the artist. Fine art prints are shipped in cardboard mailing tube, sealed in watertight plastic sleeve. USPS Priority Mail (1-3 days) with tracking and insurance (domestic US).
