This watercolor batik painting depicts the Japanese-style bridge at Sarah P. Duke Gardens in Durham, North Carolina. Created from my original photography, the painting uses transparent watercolor and wax-resist techniques on Japanese rice paper to capture the colorful foliage, reflections, and peaceful atmosphere of one of Duke Gardens’ most recognizable scenes.
