The Story Behind This Painting

For this watercolor of Neuschwanstein Castle, I intentionally fractured the image into three sections.

Rather than recreating the castle exactly as it appeared, I wanted to recreate how travel feels years later—fragments of memories stitched together into a single experience.

A missed photograph from a moving bus.

A beautiful church seen for only a few seconds.

A waterfall hike.

The impossibly long line to the viewpoint.

German buses that absolutely refuse to wait for late tourists.

Unlike traditional watercolor landscapes, this painting intentionally fractures the image into multiple visual memories. The result is less about architecture and more about the experience of travel itself.
